Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a colorful mix of heroes, and a exciting storyline showcasing divine entities, demons, and malevolent powers growing in strength within the city.
Note: Key plot points for the third episode of the new season follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
Episode 3 concluded with a major cliffhanger and revealed the premier party of heroes who will split off from the main group to undertake their independent quest, distinct from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team includes Teor Pridesire (played by Travis), Thimble (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
With an extensive roster, it was evident from the start that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, intertwining the personal journeys before dividing into three separate parties: Fighters, Schemers, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
As described by the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for participants who are drawn to a traditionally charged fight-heavy gameplay experience where diplomatic options are scarce.
Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might seem out of place, but the actions of the third episode make it clear why these five characters are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the party has a clear idea where to proceed after a brutal first encounter with the enemy group.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose passing started the campaign’s events—used The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, invading the secret base, striking Thimble, and stealing all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The traitor then cleared his liabilities and ran away to a secure base in the remote area, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each member has a personal reason to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the companion and closest confidant, desires vengeance.
- Kattigan is familiar with the northern area and warns that it is a dangerous place.
- The strong character and Wicander, having defied his house’s orders to kill Teor and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their reputation as key figures in the influential clan could assist the group access areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The grateful character vowed a eternal obligation to The savior for his salvation and will now go with him wherever.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are sought by the rulers that govern the city for a range of causes, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The rogue and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The healer betrayed the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by the family.
This leaves them little choice but to head to the northern region in quest for the traitor.
Future Episodes
According to the latest episode’s Cooldown, we find out that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the other eight cast members to round up the Explorers and Schemers groups.
Audiences can anticipate discovering which players will be in which group in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, released on next week.
